John McCain. Ever Heard of Him?
I've seen this man before... but who is he again?
John McCain has compiled a video tribute to the purported media lovefest for Barack Obama. It's amusing and familiar.
So how's an old white guy supposed to get any love these days? I know he's not The Most Interesting Man in the World, but he's running for office, too. Perhaps he'll get around to naming his veep so he can get a little attention again.

I took a look at the songs. So, without taking any sides in the current arena (I'm not looking for debate)- do we not think that charisma is an essential part of leadership? Great leaders have influence, right? In a perfect world, it should be all about ideals, but if ideals cannot be communicated effectively, where are we? Does it not behoove McCain to move beyond creating silly songs that prove Obama's point (and make him look like an even more grumpy old man, or a petulant child yelling, "It's not fair!") and explore WHY people are enamored with Obama? What is it that people long for that they think they are finding?

Wendy: Some interesting questions. I think McCain is having a little fun, more than anything else... but that said, I want to consider your argument about charisma. It is hugely important to America's voters: See Kennedy, Reagan, Bill Clinton, Obama; but we all would agree, it should not be the only thing. Everyone wants a president of substance, and conveying that substance is essential, absolutely. Objectively, you'd have to say Obama is more charismatic and he's doing a better job of attaching his "substance" to that charisma. McCain may be perceived--even by Obama supporters--as having a lot of substance, but exactly how well is that being conveyed?
I've often thought I'd enjoy running for president... campaigning, making speeches, giving sound bites... I think I could come across pretty well. But should I "be" the President? Never! I wouldn't know the first thing... though I might be more "electable" than someone much smarter than me. Whoops, I think I just ruined my chances... In 2028, this post will be dug up and posted on MSNBC just as my campaign gains steam. Oh well.
Another observation: I just requested Obama's two books and two of McCain's books from my local library. McCain has no waiting list for either. For Obama, I need to wait through 9 and 37 people before me; not huge, but much more than zero.
